I think its about time i checked the pressure of my tyres and im just wondering what i should be running.
There 235/45/R17 on an EB falcon. Cheers |

38 is about right, i used to run 40 in the 17's on my old car.
AFAIK, the pressure has to be higher because there's less space between tyre and rim, if the pressure is too low and you hit a pothole, you could damage the rim quite badly.

So what would a 16" 225 tyre have? 36psi?

I run 40 in my 235/17's to try and hold them out against the rim.
Most tyres regardless of size I usualy run 36-38psi.

yep used to run 40 in my 17 inch gladiators, 36 in my 16's atm and 32-34 in my stockies

What tyre pressues do people reccomend for drag racing for rear tyres? I never bother changing mine no need too at calder.. but for racing at heathcote it could help as I lost traction there off the line a few times

i have the fairmont 15"s and put 34 in the rears and 36 in the fronts....
i have a little storey about tyre pressure you may be interested in... any way my mate has an ebII and his work mate has an xr6 ef 5spd...my mates wanted to have a go at him so he stripped his car...took out his left headlight...and lowered his rear tyre pressure to around 20 and front to around 40....he was basically even with this xr6 which was pretty mad....anyway a week lata me and my mate went for a top speed run on the bruce...fangin along at 180...see a copper... copper runs for his bike...my mate keeps goin to lose him...i slow down the cop chases my mate...my mate took an exit at around a 100 or less he reckons and lost it and sorta crashed....the fukin tyres just rolled on the wheels and his *** went out immediaelty lesson.....remember to put typre pressure up after lowering down to drag if this had been done he probly wouldn't have lost it |
