I THINK that the XF's ran this sized throttle body, It might possibly be a carry over????? I'm not to familliar with early EA's tho.

I love when VL owners say they run an XF throttle body. Contaminating their cars with ford parts

Are they really 3" (76mm)???? I didnt realise that they were that big?

And sorry to hijack the thread, but what was the point of Ford reducing the size of the TB's?

EA-ED TB was 65mm IIRC... XF was 70mm or so

Main reason for the reduction would be for better throttle response since a 70mm TB on an 4.0 I6 isnt needed unless you are pushing big power.

Plus the fact the same % opening on a 70mm is going to have a lot more airflow than a 65mm. It would make low speed driving a bit harder

What is also funny. XF/VK-EFI shared the same TB 3.3L with 70mm TB lol
