YES

I have a 4L EL water pump in my EA 3.9L at the moment.

Of course the pulley has to match your belt/belts

Any water pump will bolt on from EA-BA. EF-BA pumps wont work with the EA-ED triple belt drive tho if that's what you were asking...

EA-ED Water Pumps are the same and EF-BA (to 11/2003) are the same then the BA one changes.

I think u will find that the EF/EL pumps are different. U cant change the pully without a special puller and the outlet to the bottom hose is smaller than an EA/EB/ED. I know from experience. Also EF/EL bottom radiator is different to match

I disagree - it is possible! Resulted in total destruction of the first pump though... definitely not recommended.

EF/EL/AU Pumps are identical, run the same pulley as well.
EA series 1 run a v-belt
EA series 2 - ED run a 3 rib belt
Pulleys are not interchangable between EA-ED and EF/EL/AU on account of the early pumps the pulley is bolted on and there is a thread for the clutch fan. EF/EL/AU have a pressed pulley
The water outlet on the EF/EL/AU is narrower than EA-ED.
However, they all bolt up exactly the same - so just use which is applicable to your particular belt setup.
