Hey guys,
For some reason my King Spring Low's look to me like the back end is lower than the front end. And the back end does seem to bounce a bit more than the front telling me the front is stiffened more than the back, maybe. I'm not too sure. So first - Is this normal ? and Second - If not should I stiffen the rear or un-stiffen the front ? Thanks

Maybe it's just the rear wheel arch...

The EF/EL can look lower at the back due to the wheel arch being lower. Measure the height of the sills at each end (where you would use your scissor jack) and see if it is actually lower.

Rear = 150mm
Front = 170mm It's noticeable because the rear arch meets the tyre and the fron arch has about an inch clearance :( (And no, no dead body's in the boot, ey madnc :P)

BTW Do you think the front is stiffened? They do seem compressed a bit.

Bugger, that is quite a difference. They didn't give you V8 springs for the front did they?

it's the front struts. Put a set of Pedders SportsRyder struts in the front and it'll sit about an inch lower. Plus you keep the same suspension travel. Might have to roll the guards depending on what wheels you have though. The reason for it sitting lower is cause the Pedders struts have a lower spring land on them than the Monroes.

Struts wont affect ride height at all unless they have a lower spring seat, like Sphell has said with some of the pedders gear, I'd be checking ya rear control arm bushes first, my car went up 10-15mm in the bum after replacing brocken bushes

That's interesting about the bushings, I'll give the underside a good look over.
Thanks guys!

My ED ended up with a droopy **** end with King Low's as well. First thing I also noticed when driving was the higher rate front, lower rate rear springs. It seems to give a decent ride/handling trade off. Car shown below even with 1' taller rear rubber.

Nothing looks worse than a lower rear-end IMHO. But maybe I'm just showing my age, I love the nose-down stance that rodders and old school muscle cars have. Rubber-rake rules!

On another thought, are the springs properly seated?

i like when the rear is about 15mm - 20mm higher than the front, on a lowered car.
how my car is at the moment, the rear looks like its lowered and the front looks like standard. must change asap |
