Consider this thread a "you know you're a car nut when..." variant - and one that I awoke regretting. For the doubtless hundreds interested in the math, the thongs are 135mm wide at the tread. The height of the rubber wall is 27mm making a width to height ratio 20. Rollin naturally suggested the maximum speed rating of ZR and the diameter of the thong is the circumference (length=310mm) / 2pi = approx 50mm or approx 4".

In Burma, they make thongs out of old tyres - they call them "1000 milers", because that's apparently how far you can walk on a pair.
I think someone should make this happen.
