Iv seen a few cars at night with very bright blue/white globes for their headlights.

im using the ones you buy from super cheap
i can't rememebr exactly the price cos i have 100 watt high beams and 100 watt normal lights (apparently only for off road use) and the price was a bit more from one to the other...both between 20-40 dollars

the normal lights give off a slight blueish glow but the high beams man are crazy.....if you driveing around hills and moutains they light everything up better than street lights

Try Philips Crystal Vision or Blue Vision, H4 60/55 I have the Crystal Vision in my car-s & highly recommend them. Do not go above the recommended wattage, as not only will you overheat the wiring loom/s + cause burning of the reflector/s, but more importantly, pi55 off other motorists. Can't give you a price estimate as mine were supplied to me for product testing but a quick internet search should yield results.

Too true, the Supacheap one's are rubbish (won't mention brands). Have checked with Autobarn, as of today (2/11/05) they have a sale, how bout that, Philips Blue vision H1-H3-H4 @$54.99. H7 @$69.99. At that price we should stock up!!!

You'll need H4s for the low/high & H3 (the one's I call a rats tail) for the high beam or grill end of the headlight.

ok thanks, why do they call the H4 low/high, then also call the H3 high?

H4: high = normal driving light
low = parkers

is that correct?

nope, blue lights are are, but proper globes aren't...

what is illegal is those that have blue sleeves over them, like blue parkers...

Phillips blue/crystal vision arent actually the same, they are not a sleeve and are not a cheap blue (they dont look like someone stuck celephane over the globe) they are actaully the best globes you can get without going to the expensive european gas globes (cant remeber the type, some one help me out here...).

While they do deliver a crytal white or blueish tinged light depending on which ones you get, they are certainly not illegal.... anyways back to the beer :baby bott

The H4 is a dual filament bulb hence the low/high. The parker is a seperate 5w bulb. The H3 only comes on with high beam.

we're told by a very reliable source they arent legal, and we dont have to replace them in changeover lights if they've come in blown

and i wish people would listen to the warnings not to use high wattage globes....
please dont come crying when your car wont stop blowing circuit breakers or what not

Well put!!! It never ceases to amaze me that some people disregard all our years experience (in my case 13) with headlights, that they still say crap like........."it's not hurting my headlights" or "I always use higher wattage bulbs (usually on EA-EL) cause my lights are shyte" but don't realise what goes on behind the lens not to mention as has been said in my earlier post, the effect on other road users.

but that second or two could be the difference of staying on the road or driving off it!

i had a case where a new european car was driving towards me with VERY bright lights while i was coming out of a bend and i had to shut my eyes for a complete second, lucky i knew the corner well (was near my house!)

Yeah thats what ive noticed, all the BMW ect have these really blue crystal lights that make all the other drivers blind. Its the same with some of the fog lights on the later model falcons and commos.

If these blue vision lights improve the drivers visability then we should all have them.
