Default Headunit Selection

Hey people, my 18th is approaching very quickly and mods will need to be put into action before i get my P's. Im now looking at getting me headunit and system. Ive been told a decent system will set my back about $1500 (subs, amps, speakers, headunit and wires)

I have a EL, what headunits and other sound equipment do you's use and recermend?

Thanks Guys

Paul

I used to have pioneer headunit... which lasted me a very very long time. but recently just upgraded to alpine 9851 swingface headunit. sound is exceptional and looks flashy too.. got a cadence Z4000 amp and 2 12" pioneer subs. some crappy 6" 3 ways out the back. Altogether the boxed subs and cadence amp set me back about 1k back then and the headunit around 300ish.. Hope that helps.

Down at JB-Hi Fi at Knox theres a Pioneer 6-series MP3 deck for $364. Usually retails for about $660 or so. my mate got one on sunday.

Could be a good start for ya.

Problem with ebay is you quite often get Asian/US/Euro versions of the Headunits... These arent covered by Warrenty in aus and usually won't play our radio stations.

Ive got a Pioneer DEH-6750MP and its great... I think that is the one that JB have got $364 atm

I run all Alpine. I love there gear!

Go to an audio shop like Freeway car audio in Dandenong. Listen to the stuff they have.

IMO don't bother with Strathfield or JB (or Supercr@p)

everywhere is doing that at the moment. Were selling alot of our "board" stock off at work because of it.

Dont get decks of Ebay as Perana XR8 said as there isnt a Pioneer/Clarion,etc warrenty when it is purchased off ebay and tend to be designed for a different frequency radio yet two have been installed at work and have both worked fine.
