just want to know if anyone has put an AU coil pack and crank angle sensor on an EA before and what results they got? Currently building a TD Corty drag car with EA motor.

I doubt anyone around here has tried it. Ive gone the other way (coil packs -> TFI) and didnt notice any loss in performance, but im not exactly pushing the limits of the ignition system. I like the coilpack setup and have no doubt its better than the dizzy in stock form, but there are aftermarket upgrades for the dizzy setup (better TFI modules and bigger coils). With the coilpacks your stuck with what the factory gave them.
Id be interested in the results if you try it.

in order to fit the sensor you would need the the ef/el timing case for mount points, and also the cogged ring to allow the sensor to work, I would suggest looking at getting an ef/el motor and build that, plus serpentine will give you a 110 amp alternator and a bit more room between radiator and engine, and thermo fans cool better.

Hi EA2BA i had the motor given to me so i want to have a bit of a play with it, can get the coil pack and sensor for 125 second hand which aint too bad. already got thermo fan and EB XR8 alt i think its rated at 95 amp which i think should be big enough because it's going to be a dedicated drag car, no reg, stereo etc. will the timing case mount straight to the EA motor? thanks EA2BA corey |
