well after such a along wait and having to be stuck with a crappy 3.23 ss for 8 months i finally got my lsd put in with 4.11 gears the speedo is not as out as i thouhgt it would be like 20kays as opposed to 40 in the ed!!! i had the cones rebuilt so its nice and tight although i am changing gears alot more frequently now and 5th gear makes sense!!! But ohhh boy does it like to rev!!! coming home on bell st a cv8 monaro came up along side me and we were rolling at 50 kays dropped back into second and pulled away from him both cars were manual i was rapt u shouldda seen the look on his face. The guys at preston autos and diffs did the install and they out one of the new style stickers the've got on my rear windscreen which i immediately removed as i had trouble from the cops with thise stickers but neway i highly recommend this to ne1 with engine mods as i think the ratio would be too high for a stock falcon

Sounds good mate.
How are the rpm when cruising. Im up for a diff change soon (got a 3.08ss, you thought your 3.23 was bad!) and I would like to get an idea when rpm is like cruising at say 60-80-100-110.

have to get speedo fixed before i can tell u that but yes it does rev a lot more it cost me $500 to give them the ed 4.11's get the cones rebuilt with new bearings and put into a 3.08 housing as 4.11's dont fit in a 3.23 housing without some serious modifications also 4.11 gears are very quiet compared to 3.9's and there very strong gears there not out of a vl or a pintara there some special brand i'll find out the name

Ive heard a few instances where people said they could not have 3.7/3.91/4.11’s installed in their late model EF/L housing. 1st was Rmyers, however that was due to using larger BW80 gears not BW78’s. Also another diff place I asked about putting 3.91’s in my car commented that I would need to source an older EA style diff housing to enable the gear sets to fit within the housing. Then again people valiantly declare that yes, 3.7/3.91 and 4.11’s all fit no problem in EF/L housings. Would be nice to get a definite 110% answer on this kind of thing.
/me looks at WBT56.

definetly doug im looking at march the 4th
Walinshaw all you need is a 3.08 housing to fit 4.11's or 3.9's it has to be a ef/el diff though so the handbrake cable can go around properly if diff shops are telling you otherwise it means that they cant do it or dont know how |

Well done FPVWEPN.. ther is nothing like a T5 & and good set of gears.
As for fitting diff gears, I put skyline 3.9's into a locked EA diff, using a skyline center. lasted endless 1/4 mile hammerings. Every diff place i spoke to said they wont fit...... hmmm.. I have also used a lsd center out of a fairlane in my mates vl with skyline 3.7's. He is running 13's, still going strong. |
