Last nite i went to calder, after me and a few mates got all flanges machined flat, and put everything back together properly... This thread is for all the people that laughed at me and said 'man u'll fck ur engine, you cant just do it like that' there were lots of negative people and they ИИИИed me off. So here it is,
With STD injectors, STD ecu, STD timing, STD trans, just a bolt on turbo, running 8 pound. 13.42 @ 103.15 Thank you |

13.42 off an 8lb boosted engine isn't that great, considering there's an NA 6 in the 14s. Hope the engine hangs together, and with bigger injectors, intercooler, ECU etc, you should get into the 12s at that boost.

With STD injectors, STD ecu, STD timing, STD trans, just a bolt on turbo, running 8 pound its actually not too bad a time. It is considerably faster then a stock BA XR6T for example and that runs 6psi and is tuned to run the turbo.
I have to agree though, I dont give the engine a long lifespan without a decent tune. Look at what happened to Mals old XR6.

Dam thats a good time considering alot is still standard. I think that time is quicker than Dans ED went with 10psi, wolf, injectors, reg, fuel pump etc.......

congrats on the time.
i'd love to get similar out of mine, has it seen a dyno to find out just how the AFR's are? i'd have to agree, i don't imagine the engine will be overly reliable, performance is good, but long term will tell the story. good luck with it

I think these motors are pretty strong. When you have a little mechanical sympathy you will keep it going for a while.
I think that is a great time and I hope my car can get into that range one day. Great stuff.

As far as unopened, the head has been reco'd and a bit of porting, IT has been running for 4 months and i've given it absolute hell every single day. And its going as good as its every gone, engine is in perfect condition mate.
Damo, thank you, exactly my point, i've got my money's worth out of this engine anyway, if it blows, 400 bucks and in goes the ef engine and me into the 12's. |

I see a fuel pressure reg there so although you are running standard injectors they will be flowing more than normal.
So i guess when you say "std timing" you have probably retarded the dizzy but are running the standard curve? Just good to clear these things up cos you dont want people thinking you can just bolt on a turbo and run 13's without touching anything else.

This is what ИИИИs me... For every person that runs a good time, there's a half dozen others telling him/her how they should have done it or that its not that impressive... Back off and leave the guy be, bloody desktop experts the lot of you. He ran a number and that's final, full stop, end of story, period...
By the way evlelf, well done mate, looked pretty good from up on the hill

Good on ya, but it'll go sooner or later. As said, for the cost of not much more than a second hard engine you could get it tuned heaps better. Imagine what you could do with the cost of 2 or 3 engines.

That's a great time, bloody awesome actually for just a bolt on :
Does the car stutter or hesitate at all going up through the revs? I wonder what your AFR is like at the higher RPMs : !!! But like you said, e-series engines are cheap and plentiful so if you don't mind spending a w/end putting a new motor in, who cares! May as well see how long it lasts ey! ;) |

Thats not a bad result at all, and the car looks great. Glad to see you've got an FMU in there to keep fuel up to it while on boost.

In this case, constructive criticism might save a 4.0 from a premature trip to the scrap yard. If it was me, id want people to help out if they know a thing or two instead of just kissing ***.

whats better, spending time and money on an engine change, or spending time and money on something that will make the car quicker and more reliable.
doesn't take an expert to figure that one out. but its his car, its working.

What's better? Making your own decisions or listening to a bunch of desk jockeys who possibly have not experienced the same achievement... You youngsters may not understand but in 31 years of involvement in darg racing as a racer, sponsor, crew member, spectator and media rep I have seen this happen every time someone runs a number over and over and over again. It is getting to be very tiring.
Whether or not his combination is reliable, he acheived what he set out to acheive and unless you can do better with the same equipment back off and leave him alone. It's that friggin simple!

oh thats right, this is a forum.
you're not allowed to tell someone your opinion. i guess the opinions of those who have run turbo falcon's in the past don't matter. everyone, feel free to voice your opinion, thats the point of this damn forum. the time was good, the setup could use some improvements, and i'm sure he knows that.

yep, maybe he doesnt care if the engine blows. Maybe he doesnt know that this engine can be 'saved' for about the same price.
He also says he would get an EF engine and run 12's. Maybe he knows EF's run more compression than the engine he has now so its less suitable for turbo's unless he rebuilds it to suit. I dont know what he knows, but it doesnt hurt to post.
