Question bendix spring?

does anyone know how hard it is to repair a bendix spring on a EB series 2 starter motor? Would i be better off getting a new or second hand starter motor from the wreckers then it is to fix the one i have?

When i go to start her, sometimes she starts first go, other times it makes a whirring noise about 1 or 2 times before she finally kicks into life, i was told it might be the bendix spring but i'm not sure, this is my first e-series falcon so any help would be greatly appreciated.

Just get another one or exchange yours..I DON'T think these have bendis springs ?? They are pre engage starter motors...As in it engages then contacts liven up starter motor..You may have warn ring gear or starter motors gear..Get another from wreckers.. Check condition of ringear first...
