Default Taking off the EF Fairmont door trim??

I just went out and bought some alpine 4" front speakers for my car (As well as some rears, but they're not the problem :P) and I can't figure out the door trim.

I have to take the whole doortrim off to get to the speakers? Right? I've undone all the screws around it, but something's still grabbing/screwed to the door behind the leather bit that runs across the top...

Am I aproatching this the right way? Or does that little grill just come straight off with a little pressure?

Ford - Making my audio life hell :P

one problem - your front speakers are 6" ones, not 4's! only EA/EB I came with 4's!

you'll need to pop out the door handle - there is a cover with a screw behind it, as well as 2 screws in the armrests, behind 2 angled covers. then you'll need to hit it up from underneath to loosen it from the window track.

the drivers side requires you to undo the power mirrors switch as well ;)

Ahhh, *sighs* ok, the trim is 98% off, but the centeral locking button on the trim is connected to the door, and it wont just let go or anything :P

And yes, they are 6"s... now I'm wondering if I can exchange them for others, or claim that they're faulty or something and ask for a bigger pair... :/

But back to the button :/

actually, I think I'll get out some plywood, and stuill run the 4"s, they were only 100 bucks, and I dont have time to waste.

Plus 4"s might give me an overall better sound and a wider range. The sub'll be working on friday, so when the sub amp comes all the inside speakers will only be doing treble anyway.

Actually, no. I just put my 4inch alpines in and they're perfectly crisp. They're a 2 way speaker, and the 6"s were just a single, woofer.

What was in it was complete crap, I'm really glad I bought these now, they sound amazing teamed with the 6" 3way alpines up the back, all powered from the Clairon headunit (gotta get an amp later on :()

dude, put the 6" alpines in your doors, and take the 4" back.

you want good sound from the front, your ears are directional and pick up more noise from the frontal position

if ur gettin a sub leave the 4" in. when you have a good quality sub nothing else even needs to produce bass...

I've bought a 15" kicker, it's in the boot awaiting an amp. I shouldn't matter weather I have 6" up front, or 4", because I'll be taking _all_ the bass out of all four speakers once the sub's amp arrives.

The system sounds clean and crisp, as well as providing enough bass to make my seats viabrate. I think they're fine. I should have looked at the trims before I bought them though.

Thanks for your opinion I will prolly buy another set of 6" alpines down the track, but for the moment, I never want to take a doortrim off ever again :P

ok, its just a waste to have good 6" in the rear, where it matters in the front more.

my last system i had front 6" pioneer components hooked up, and a sub in the boot, didnt even worry about rear speakers.
