ok i have a big problem when i do big rpm say over 4000 my power stering belts twist and endup comming off and then there stuffed, it sucks coz i have to keep the revs down witch is good coz i save alot of fule but it is abit embarising when you have a play in my car, i have been throught 7 belts this month i keep 3 spare in the boot im getting quite good at changing them but its costing about the same in petrol, what could be doing this. i need help

Well, when you post late at night and then repost within an hour, the odds *are* stacked against you for a prompt response.
I'll take a stab & say the pulleys aren't aligned... or one is unbalanced, so that at high rpm when the belt is turning faster, it is more unstable than at lower (sub-4000) rpms, and hence is thrown off. I recall a recent thread about checking pulleys for balance by using a stethescope (or similar) device, where you can "hear" the unbalance/vibration occurring. I don't suggest playing Doctor with a stethescope on the block though, you might nuke your eardrums :SaiyanSmi Good luck -Dave- |

Doesn't this occur when there is play backwards and forwards in the crank?

Could be the pump mounting not as tight or complete as it should be either.
Look at pulleys and mounts for the defective units. May even be another belt, they usually throw all of them. |

it cant be the one on the motor as there are still 3 belts on that one and i dont think it could be the power stering pump can it so i guell im up for a new power stering pully
