Question requesting info regarding HPC

Hi, I'm a long time searcher and first time poster as i can't find any real info about wheather HPC coating extractors are worth it or not.
I've got a 2001 au2 I6 ute that i've done intake mods to and will be recieving some 4480's in a couple of days. is it worth spending around $300.00 to get them coated for performance reasons or is it not worth the money. any feedback would be greatly appriciated. cheers _2:

It does reduce under bonnet temps quiet alot, and makes them easier to keep looking like new

Definitely worth it.I have Herrod HPC coated headers. My under temps are quite low (even before the vents) and the look is good. I remember Casper remarking how much sooner my car has cooled compared to his, so it's better for all the components in the engine bay.

Interesting indeed ... how much is it to get done for extractors????
It gets pretty warm underbonnet on the work ute ... especially when it is running close to 12hours (well nearly all of that time)

This unique ceramic-aluminium coating process reduces ambient under hood temperature while increasing horsepower. Performance benefits can be attributed to: combustion chamber stabilization and reduced under hood temperature; improved air density; increased gas velocity due to the heat retaining properties of the coating; and better laminar air flow due to the elimination of oxide scale on the header’s inside diameter.
Yes, it's affects performance - how much would be subject to testing, or much speculation.

I'll back up DeathXR and say that we both have black AU XR's and, with the HPC coated headers, there was a huge difference in under bonnet temps in our cars. His was cool enough to hold your hand on while mine would have been perfect for frying bacon and eggs. Get.it, its worth it.

Oh, and the new Pacemaker 4480's rock

im led to belive the HPC coating also decreases the life of the exhaust components as it makes them retain the heat longer etc etc..

but as i said thats just what ive been told..

get it done the pacies look good for a while but get lots of little brown rust spots developing in a year or two. I have seen two go like that so the HPC is worthwhile just for cosmetics if nothing else.

What components? As we've already discussed, HPC headers run cooler during use, cool faster after use so if anything, the other components should also be cooler and last longer!

just did a little reading of the pacemaker website and they do come HPC coated. The HPC that they are refering to stands for Heat Proof Coating. The HPC that i meant is the ceramic coating and that HPC stand for something "like" High Performance Ceramic coating. Pacemakers don't come ceramic coated but they do recommed it.

:
Quote:
10. What is ceramic coating?

Ceramic coating is a thermal skin applied internally and externally to the header. This skin or coat, apart from other properties, consists of ceramic and aluminium. This combination provides very high thermal resistance and is an ideal coating for headers, pistons and other high temperature components. A by-product of ceramic coating is its high lustre or finish, and should increase the life of the product. We at Pacemaker recommend the use of ceramic coated finishes on all of our products.
from the Pacemaker website...

Thanx for all your imput. :
