If anyone even read my last thread, someone ran into my car, and it ended up being a write off. I bought the car back off the insurance company for $750, and so the modifications begin.
I bought a 3.23 LSD today to put in on Tuesday with a bit of luck. Seems to be nice and tight, so should be a bit more fun than the lameass (bent) 3.23 SS. Figured I'd keep it at 3.23 because it's cheaper, and it's the same ratio as what's in it now. Next step is an AU engine conversion. Now I went to FTG Auto Salvage, and they basically tired to talk me out of it. I've got a few questions that I can't really find searching the forums before, but if there's any other threads, please point 'em out! 1. The AU engine should fit with maybe 4mm clearence between the sump and the K frame. Is this right? 2. I'll run my existing engine management system, with the EB intake manifold and everything else? 3. It's an EB series 1, so basically an EA... Does that make anything harder? 4. My existing 4 speed will bolt strait up? I think I've got an AU one lined up, but I thought I'd check. Basically I want this done in a weekend, as I'm currently driving a 1986 Saab 900EMS with a rather loud exhaust, which keeps waking up my family... Anyway, here's some pictures of the damage: |

You can't see anything all that exciting, just that the rim is sitting about 5cm too far to the rear of the car. Makes for an interesting drive in the wet...

u have to shave ur sump still

I'd be going for the single belt conversion and thermofans, as they need replacing anyway. Only one way to find out if it'll all work...
Those eBay motors are looking good, but I'd really want to run a compression test on one before I buy it. Pain in the *** they're in Queensland! I'll just have to find something a little more expensive here. |
