I did a bit of a search, but couldn't find much. I'm sure this has probably been done a thousand times though :
I'm thinking of getting an EB-ED 5lt, and I'm just wondering if any of you owners out there can give me some of your average fuel consumption figures? Thanks!! |

Some of you need to be realistic!
12 on the highway and 16-18 in town. Don't base the highway estimates on the straight run from geelong - melb where its dead flat and you can usually sit on one speed for miles. Barnacus would be a fairly accurate for a 5 speed but i think the other examples given are a little bit optimistic.

Right now I'm sitting on 13.6-14.2 (depending on right foot.. this is fairly accurate as I go through 3/4's of a tank a week, reset the odo and fill it up, then get home and calculate what I got.) that's taking my sisters to school, trips to work and uni (25k straight driving either way with not that much interutption if i'm lucky)15-16+ with city driving, you can sit there and watch the trip meter count down the k's as you're idling :
I haven't taken it for a 'highway' cruise but judging by what the trip meter reads through 100 zone with cruise on I'd say 8-10l. Not bad for a 1700+kg car (NC fairlane) |

I got around 9.5L/100km driving to Melbourne once (700km on 65L), and I've used 50L in under 200km before as well.
I do 4-700km a week, mostly hills driving, trip comp now reads 12.5L/100km, but I haven't reset it for something like 6 months :P

The fuel consumption will very much depend on the health of the engine to, as you are looking at older model's you need to make sure the vehicle/engine has been looked after, if not your consumption could give you a heart attack.

I can consistantly get 9.5-10L/100km on the highway, averaged 9.6L/100 for the trip from Brissy to Bairnsdale in Vic.
I get anything between 13-15L/100km in the city depending on what fuel I'm using and how heavy the right foot is.

But take into account NZ says ;) I've been getting 14.5L/100kms lately (ignoring trip computer's "10.8L/100kms" reading), mixed driving. Then again I am punting it around a little more than I used to. Sucks to get 35L from $50 :( |

My wagon is a fuel whore, uses crap loads... 300kms from 68lt usually, but it has some other issues that dont help with fuelling lol

Mine also averaged 11.5 towing a full box trailer and a fully laden wagon on a recent trip from Orange to Maitland. Helps to get the tyre pressures right.
