Sorry to deviate from the topic but what would be the advantage of doing this to your throttle body? pardon my ignorance....lol

probably nothing apart from shorter path for the air to travel, woudln't heat up as much.
hence why i said it wouldn't be worth it unless u could do it yourself.

ford designed it like that for a reason. it would give a loss in torque due to the total intake length being shortened, not to mension a restriction with that corrigated pipe thats been used on that EL taxi. thats my 2cents

TuffED
Yes that corrigated pipe is a restriction .. But i was only useing it to see if it would work .. The G.O.R. Day was the first run it had like that .. As for loss of Torque .. No Way .. A few have seen my car and it goes very good for the crap box it is. Sweet EL Yes it is a very easy mod to do ..if you take off the top part of you manifold and use a hacksaw to cut it with. Turn it up side down and extend the throttle cable ( I cut 1 from the wreckers and just joined them ) there is no wait on a throttle cable But i did use 2 of the wire clamps just in case .. (I must see about getting a Propper cable)I have done a few of them now just stuffing around to get the angle right so it dose not hit the Bonnet . Throttle Responce is Great there is no lag like you get from the E-Series and if you have your air (pod) filter in front of the tyre like i do it gets all the air it needs and the air flow to the throttle has no restriction.. As you know there are two 90* bends in the air pipe.. I did mine as i had a master plan .. That was forced induction .. Now i have gone away from that idea as it costs to much and there will be more problems doing it .. I have allmost Finshed a Twin Throttle Body for Heljas and 1 for me as well. On testing on my car it improved my power and was a lot more responsive from 2,000 rpm BUT my car is L.P.G. and i have had a run or 2 with heljas and there is nothing between the cars Mine has just a bit more legs up hills If you realy want to see how it all works i have some good pics and can talk you through it very easy .. I even have a spare 1 in the shed all done up .. Buts Its a special one just for my motor :hihi:

yeah I wasn't sure if it would hit the bonnet or not. so it will hit if you leave it on the same angle as the normal way??
I'd love to see more pics... |

If the person that you took it to dose not know how to stop it then i would not take it there ..
Im NOT a welder I just muck around doing my own stuff so i can see what it dose or if it will work . What I did was get a straight big bit of steel and drill the holes to suit the top of the manifold and bolt them together. Then i welded it and let it cool untill the next day then i unbolted it and put it onto my lower half and all is good . If you was in Geelong i could knock 1 up for you in no time ..

I'm finnaly going to give this a try myself, but I'm just wondering what welding rods would be best to use to weld it back togeather?

It won't have anything to do with torque. Yes lengthening the intake runners gives you more low end torque, but it doesn't matter what you do on the other side of the TB.
