ok basically i just did some work on my front doors. its a na fairlane so it has the early eseries trims. i am gettin them retrimmed but i dont like the door handles on them so my question is can the chrome handles of el or ef falcons fit and work on my door? obviously i will have to modify the door insert, but will the door handle screw in to the whole of the door if u know what i mean?
thanks a lot |

apart from that tho they should be able to screw in, not 100% sure tho. it'd take a bit of modifing to get them to fit tho. best to get some whole ef/el door trims.

You will also have no way to pull the door closed if you just have ef/el handles.

ohh i dont thing anyone understood. i got pods done on the front. vinyl is totaly off the door panels and will be trimmed. i personally like the ea-ed interiors better than that of ef el, and thats one of the choices of choosing this car. the only thing that is gonna let me down is the door handle as it dont look the part.
i have some chrome arms that will be screwed on to close the doors with. they look really nice. i want to cofirm that the ef el door handles wont fit, i went down to the wreckers today and borrowed a set, they are too deep and short. they hook up to the rod fine though. they probably only work well with the trim of the ef els. options now 1. stick with the stock ones painted 2. go aftermarket billet style or find another car handle to modify in 3. the third is bit of a problem with the legalities side but im researching at the moment help thanks |

Put some packing behind the EA door trim to make it bulge out at the handle to make it line up, worth a try.

^^^ yeh bout your only option for ef/el door handles. or make up a metal bracket to screw the door handles to for extra support.
you should have mentioned in the original msg that you had chrome arms to be screwed on!!!lol otherwise you woulda had a bit of trouble getting the door closed!!haha just use the window winder, door handle or wind the window down and grab the top of the window!! anyway back on topic!!yeh if you used a metal bracket that should give the handle enough support to lever off, then use some kind of packing of something to build it up so the handle sits out enough to clear the back, proberly window. cheers

ohhh struggling lately on deciding what to do
i decided to go without doorhandles, and i got a trick up my sleeve. will research the possibility and u should know that i will not use solenoids or any electrical system as there is too much trouble with the law. should look sweet though idea of ef el handles is not great, just realised that they are actually pretty big and bulky and go against the look im goin for. at the moment i finished my front door work and will start work on the rear trims. will be driving the car without vinyl for a while till i figure out what to do with the front cheers |
