I have just been over my car,to find that a cat has put scratches right through my clear coat, all along my quater panel. The cat climbs over my car all the time, and Im yet to be able to catch it. Couple of questions.
1. If I can prove whos cat it is, is there any way to get them to pay for the damage there cat has done? 2. Does any one have a cat trap I can borrow? 3. Do I have any rights at all in this situation? 4. Can I get scratches that are through my clear coat out, by a cut and polish or whatever? Thanks guys, any info at all would be really helpful.

This should be interesting– the old cat scratching problem again! Can you get a paw print? DNA sample?

Get a car cover or park it in a garage
are you going to claim damages from god because a branch fell on it? If it was your cat then you would deal with accordingly... Because its someones else you need to eith find the owners and ask them nicely to control there cat better if possble or wait with a hose day and night to blast it when it comes ready to enjoy your engine warmth |

PS If you do catch the cat– be nice to it, it doesn't know any better....
But if its like my regular experience it is actually several cats. |

Be careful with the car cover. The offending cat on my car used the car cover as its scratching post of choice - maybe without the cover it wouldnt have done the damage it did.

Id park it away, but our garage has motorbikes and cars filling it, and I wont get a car cover for the aforementioned reason. I was thinking more of getting it trapped by either me or RSPCA, getting the chip read to try and trace it back to the owners, and go from there.

Doesnt seem like a cat would put scratches along vertical surfaces like a quarter panel. They only jump on top of panels like the bonnet, roof or boot. Normally they dont put deep scratches in the paint anyway.
Sure it wasnt someone in a carpark somewhere? Dont hurt the cat if you do catch it. Its the owners that are the real problem, allowing their cats to wander around. |

Cat discussion should be grouped under the same emotive umbrella as politics and religion.: Anyway, here was the last thread on this subject: http://www.fordforums.com.au/showthr...highlight=cats Last edited by WILDTRAKPX2; 29-08-2006 at 01:17 PM. |

I dont want to hurt the cat at all. I think trapping it and taking it to the council is the best idea.

Quote:
There are cat prints on my car, Ive seen cats near the car and the scratches are 4 or 5 abreast consecutive lines down the side of my car, as if its been used as a scratching post. My car was washed three days ago, and there were no scratches on it then, my car hasnt left the front yard, so I think its pretty damn obvious. :
