Default Sony Ericson car kits banned !!

As an installer of mobile phone kits in Sydney a client asked for a Sony ericsonn car kit.I paid good money for it and went to install it into his vehicle. On completing the installation I plugged in the speaker jack and it broke off into the data box!! I have done around 15000 phone installs to date and never seen such a thing happen. The quality of the board was crap. In my search for good customer service being out on the road I opened the box to investigate. The tracks had broken away like jelly.I tried to repair this on the spot so that I can get it finished and save ericsons face.
Well it did not work. I ended up taking it to a service centre and they voided my warranty on the spot!!

I have done many ericsons in the past and most were good. But lately I have to wonder about the quality form some other problems that I have seen.

So as a guy with 15 years of car installation experience I am banning the sale of their product through my business.I am posting this experience up because it is frustrating when things like this happen I dont need it!!

Fair enuff I reckon Useless, can't run a business and keep ya rep with poor quality gear, bit slack on their behalf to void ya warranty as well, sounds like they've missed out on a very good agent.

Dont have much experience with SE, though I have done numerous Nokias for many years right back to analogue Nokia 101s, but the one SE bluetooth carkit I have been involved with has been absolute garbage. Whilst still priced at the ripoff $$ that Nokia car kits sell for this SE gem exhibits a sound quality less that the cheapest plug in taiwanese import from a shopping centre kiosk. Sounded like a Dailek talkng thru a toilet roll, and only four subsequent attempts to tune/adjust it managed to make it legible.

Throught the Monaro sound, or its own speaker, it still sounded crap, and for the callers the audio was less intelligable than a 70's trunk call to the depths of the soviet block. Scratch crackle and squeal, feedback Hendrix would have been proud of, and audlible throbbing pulsing of the vox and alc circuitry.

The owner loves the SE handset, but will be back to Nokia for next phone and probably sooner rather than later due to quality of the SE car kit audio. No stars for this product.

Of course you can't tell them it was fuq'd to start with, and what you did only improved their build-quality! Good on yah for boycotting poor quality products!

On the spur of the moment I bought myself a Sony Ericisson at Christmas time, so far they've had to replace it 4 times. 2 of them had overheating problems, the infrared wouldn't work on the 3rd and the 4th wouldn't charge. :

The battery lasts two days maximum, it cuts out constantly on phone calls. I keep my Nokia on me if I want something reliable to call out on, I'll never buy another SE again. :

cant say im happy with my SE either. Althogh i think its more the network its on (Optus) instead of the actual phone, either way when i can afford it (and when its least inconvenient) i'll be going back to a Nokia on Telstra.

Yep absolutely. All products have a failure rate. But a product or service is only as good as the people behind it.

ive had an old SE t230 for about a year now. not an amazing phone, dust went under the screen after about 3 weeks and you cant take them apart easily. Unfortunately with some of these organisations they start cutting corners, sometimes they cut too far.

Not for me thanks. Nokia is just as bad, if not worse. Ive sent away every single Nokia of mine for warranty and still not fixed. Not happy jan!

My SE phone however does have some faults, just not as bad as the Nokias.

I got a cheapy sony erricsson to replace my broken kyocera i'd had for 2 years, and it was a piece of crap.
At first I thought it was just the vodafone network so I tried a telstra sim card in and the reception was still crap.
So it was back to Kyocera for me.

Yeah my T20s on Telstra won't work. First it was just at home that it would drop out, but now it shows full reception all the time, but will not allow me to send messages, or make or receive calls. The same thing happens with my Dad's Ericsson, and on the numerous times I've called Telstra to complain I get told it's the phones, not the network. They have no plans to upgrade the service in my area, and if I don't like it, I should get a new phone, and move to another network.
Which I did.
then I tried swapping the sim cards, and the one from the Ericsson works perfectly on the new phone.
