Thumbs up Congrats to Sandringham --> three-peat

Congratulations to the Sandringham Zebras for winning the 2006 VFL Grand Final by 18 points over Geelong.

Sandringham 13.13.91
Geelong 11.7.73

Sandringham has joined Williamstown and Port Melbourne in the elite group of clubs that have won premierships in the post-war era, having also won the premiership in 2004 and 2005.

As a Geelong supporter, I am disappointed that we didn't win, but Sandringham, once defeating the top of the table Northern Bullants in the prelims last week showed that they deserved their premiership and simply outclassed Geelong when it mattered on the day.

Best wishes to former Melbourne player Guy Rigoni, who played his final game of VFL football today. Similar to Geelong's Kent Kingsley, who is unlikely to play with an AFL club next year.

I'm proud of Geelong's effort, and we were in no way disgraced. We were 34 points down at 3/4 time, and came to within 4 points in the last quarter before Sandy kicked away. Only one team can say they did better than us this year. And they rightfully deserve their premiership.

Good luck next year.
