Default What you guys/gals think?

Need an opinion. Found this on Tempe Tyres website, I have decided I want my car to be just like this one

I think these wheels are AU/BA offset though. Anyway, my question is, I have the EL Mont which has the chrome grill. Would my car look as good as that if i removed the chrome around the bumpers and painted the door bits red like that bloke has? My car is the same colour as that.

or should i leave my car as it is (stock apart from slight lowering job, exhaust etc) and start saving to turn this

into this

Im about 4 grand away from being happy with the EL as the daily and intend on keeping it a bit, and im about 20k (give or take 5k) away from having my XY look anything like that. have even been thinking about ditching the EL all together and buying a Suzuki Swift GTi just to bang to and from work in

opinions, please

Buying wheels from Tempe will improve the looks of any car. IMO, chrome wheels look good on a car with chrome. So newer cars need the Ghia trim. Atherwise alloy look.

Mocking up your XY to GT will then make it another GT mock up. But there is no questioning the the look and style of the XYGT.

Fitting bigger and better wheels to the EL may create insurance issues by making it more temping to theives.

It's 11:!4am in the morning here, so i'm going to be picky..

If you want your XY GT to be like the one in that picture, it's going to cost more than $20-25k. Try $40k minimum.. By the time you source the GT parts, paint them, fit them, make it drivable, you'd be looking at $40k minimum. Also, a classic car like that shouldn't have a budget. If you're going to do up an XY GT, you've gotta go into the project with an infinite budget ;)

Get the chromies, it'll suit it nicely.

ok, it was late last night, i should have been a little clearer

My plans for the XY are not a GT mock up, basically it'll be a wild violet Fairmont with white interior, 450hp alloy headed Clevo thru to a toploader and 3.5 geared 9inch running weld draglite, littlies up front, fat as i dare up the back

And I reckon i could build a decent GT replica for 25k. Whats so hard about finding GT bits, painting them, installing them and making a car that already drives driveable? Everything is made repro now anyway.

Those were the exact rims i was looking at gettin for my Fairmont. You will need to keep the door chrome and get the Ghia chrome for the bumpers to make it look the best it can. I have a pic of an awsome EFFairmont with those rims on it somewhere.

Those wheels in the pics. Are they XHP Sabre's? And do they come in E-series off set? If that is the case I might have a set of EL GT's for sale very shortly :hihi:
