Default Anyone a Big Day Outer?....

Thoughts on first line up announcement?!

I personally am very happy, because of Tool headlining.

I have the chance to do Gold Coast BDO Sunday, Sydney Tool Show Wednesday night, then Sydney Big day out Thursday!!!!!

Thats a heavy schedule in terms of cash outlay and body punishment. I'm not ruling it out however.

So what does everyone (anyone?) else think of Big Day Out this year?!

I'm already going to the Sydney Tool gig, so I don't really need to go to the BDO.

We'll be going. I'm hoping they bring some other cool bands though, because at the moment i'm only really going to see tool. I'll probably hang around to see some other bands though...

So far..

Tool
Muse
Violent Femmes
The Killers
Peaches & Herms
My Chemical Romance
Spank Rock
Jet
Eskimo Joe
Scribe
Evermore
The Sleepy Jackson (Aus only)
The Herd (Aus only)
The Spazzys (Aus only)

I'd like someone crazy like Atari Teenage Riot to come again...that was painful.

yeh another crap lineup like last year. Tools the only good band but thank god i got tickets to there concert in sydney so no need for BDO.

BDO has gone down hill the past few years, remember last year, worst lineup ever, this year with the exception of Tool is looking to be just as bad of a lineup

Big Day Out? Looks like a Tool concert. Perhaps with some random Emo bashings to keep things fun.

Haven't been since 2003. I must be getting old and out of touch, there's only one or two bands I'd go see and it's usually whoever's touring and The Living End, who aren't that hard to catch.

BDO is dead... Oh thats right, it was never alive :P

Naa seriously, Tool is the only noticeable band in the lineup. What happened to the days of the chilli peppers, Metallica, Slipknot, QOTSA... Fear Factory...

Good Bye bdo.

Tool - pass
Muse - pass
Violent Femmes - pass
The Killers - pass
Peaches & Herms - double pass
My Chemical Romance - my god, triple pass
Spank Rock - pass
Jet - pass
Eskimo Joe - pass
Scribe - triple pass
Evermore - pass
The Sleepy Jackson (Aus only) - pass
The Herd (Aus only) - pass
The Spazzys (Aus only) - pass

Lol, think i'll give it a miss. Last band i REALLY wanted to see at BDO was NOFX a few years back. And how things have changed

Geez the line ups have gone ultra commerical since Channel [V] snatched the limelight from Triple J. Having said this, some very popular bands there... im sure it'll sell out.

Not my cup o tea

Sheesh........BDO copping a bashing!

Good to see so many tool fans though!!!!

HLC hit it pretty right. Might be a lame line up (which is down to personal taste I guess) but they are fantastic days. $115 for a heap of bands still represents good value I reckon.

Josh XC - last year was pathetic wasnt it. So true.

BOOSTDEF - Metallica played 2 years ago I think. That was cool. I did the same thing then that I'll do this year for tool. Go and see their headline show and their BDO show within days of each other. Mudvayne played last year (well not at the Gold Coast one - main stage went down for an hour or so right at the start of Mudvaynes set!!!).

4.9 EF Futura - I'd disagree on them going commercial. Tool as headliners this year - that is DEF not commercialism. Triple J are still part of it too?

I was lucky to go to BDO '05 when there was an actual decent line up. I'm seriously disappointed with whos been playing last year and now the new line up doesnt look any better.

05 was slipknot and system of a down wasent it... yeh that rocked. The one before that was also awesome (metallica), since than though yeh nothing, i felt so sorry for mudvayne last year having to hang out in the same festival with those other gay bands...
Sorry if i offend someone

Last BDO I went to was Korn, Soulfly, Manson. '99 I think?

Manson was good for a laugh.

I went to 99 and '00. Manson was good for a laugh, Soufly were soufly, Korn caused people to break bones in the most pit.

I think 2000 had NIN, Foo Fighters and something else.

2004 was the last decent year with SOME metal on the bill. 05 would have been ok if i liked crap metal, and this year, aside from LOTS of fun, the line up was the worst ive seen. hopefully there is some metal in the next couple of announcements...

ALSO, has anyone noticed that the organisers seem to be rehashing bands from the last couple of years to play again. MOST of those bands have played Big Day Out before. which is lame. i thought BDO was about promoting newer bands on the scene or international bands touring, not the same crap year in year out.

Way too much commercial music about these days , even most of the so called metal bands are pretty soft these days .... lame lame lame .

IMO too i recon get rid off all these darn pokies in the pubs and bring back all the live bands , gee i miss those days ! / you just about can't even goto a pub around Melbourne these days without finding out that the old band/function room is now a pokies room ! . The Melbourne music scene really went downhill bad years ago when they introduced them / even most of the musical instrument shops closed ! .

no more said .. it gets me agro ..lol

If i didnt live in Darwin at the time i would have been there. That would have been great.

rammstein in 01 absolutely went off... aahh well, they might surprise and add a few good bands in the coming months.

Come on, every one knows there's been no good music since John Bonham died and Ozzy left Sabbath.

True True , at least ozzy is still sorta rockin these days / well trying hard anyway ..lol .

Any yeah the late 70's was the true era of music, but it all ended earlly 80's .

There is some ok stuff around these days, but nothing really original or different / and that was is is usually rubbish .

Hehehe , even Metallica went old, mouldy, commercial and soft years ago , shame on them / then tried to sue their fans for downloading their stuff on napster ... which if it wasn't for the fans making them rich back in the 'record' days then they wouldn't be where they are now ! .

Naw not really. Besides AC/DC I'm yet to find a band that I like without the original singer. Well, not really counting Pantera.

Don't get me wrong, there's good music out there, but there's a hell of a lot more crap as well.

Geez I thought Dio was a far better singer than Ozzy and I thought the music was a lot better too. But hay each to their own, it was all good.

By memory, BDO is full of 13 year olds wearing Daddy's clothing and smoking cigarettes they scab off the people around them...
