Whats the difference between an slr and a normal digital camera.ive seen a photography course i wouldnt mind doing but you need a digital slr camera.

I am no camera expert, but with an SLR I think you can change the lenses....

SLR stands for Single Lens Reflex. Meaning the lens that is used to look through for framing the shot e.t.c is the same lens that is used to take the picture. Normally the light passes through the lens onto a mirror where is reflected into the veiwfinder. When you take the shot the mirror flips ups and the light passes straight though to the sensor. Where as with other cameras there is usually a lens for framing and another lens the camera uses for the photo.
SLR's are usually better suited for the enthusiast/pro because settings can be manually controlled if desired, and as mentioned, with most you can change lenses. |
