just got a question, doesn't necessarily mean i'm going to attempt this but do you think there would be any performance gain from taking a BBM, chopping it in half and making it like a 6 throttle body setup, using the butterflies in the manifold as throttle plates?? Then just having them hooked up to the accelerator cable on a modified bracket? it'd be like a triple webber setup but with double the amout of air filters lol. Reckon you'd get more air into the engine than just with a single throttle body?
I was thinking you'd probably have to drill small holes in each butterfly so the car would idle but surely throttle response would be improved? Someone told me that it has been done before but I'm not sure who or how well it worked. |

Hahaha, when dave and I were working on an EF, we removed the BBM, and he told me that he had the idea about removing the upper half, and using the 6 butterflies as the TB's...
I reckon you'd get more air, it's just that you'd need to hook up the ISC, etc, and also, i dunno how the vaccuum would be without the upper? Maybe a reprogrammed MAP sensor? |

Ive got an Au manafold in pieces Ive been playing with for a while. MAP can be run by T'ing into all the runners and connecting them to a rail, and conect the MAP to this.
The main problem is the shape of the lower manfold. For the first 50 or so mm of runners there is some of the short runner open and the butterflys dont seal this. Also I dont believe that the ISC system would have any chance to work. You would need to have holes in the butterflys like the V8's do. They seem to cope with the ISC disconected.

so say you got it going, it would be like having the throttle part open? Is that what you mean? What type of welder can weld a manifold? Can a Oxy welder do the job? or MIG or TIG? |

I'd say you'd have to TIG it being cast ally. Sounds like a good idea if it can be pulled off!
