Default the new bond movie

this is not about the actors, but more about the car

i saw the trailer for the new one, "casino royale" and i guess most people know that the main car is the aston martin DBS

in one scene, he's belting it along a narrow road, when he spots something just in front. he swerves, and ends up flipping the car multiple times.

now whilst this makes for a great movie, it doesnt make for a particularly good car, unless you used to be a mercedes A-class.

do you think aston wouldve been happy to sign off on a movie where their flagship car can flip in what seemed like a fairly innocent manouver?

i dare say aston martin would have known in what context the car was to be used in before they agreed to a contract. And if it sells more of their cars, then i don't see why they would care how it made its demise

I remember reading about the ice scence in one of the James Bond movies. The Aston was actually just a mock up with an old carburettored Ford V8 inside.

It was actually a Triton Sourced 5.4L V8 with an All Wheel Drive System especially made for that scene

Yep...I saw it Friday night....bloody good film!!
Craig plays a great Bond...I loved how they played on all the Bond "traits" such as the shaken not stirred and bond, james bond....really clever!

After spending $22 on pop-corn and coke, I must admit it was a breath taking movie.

Amazingly subtle compared to the last 2 dodgy Bonds. Nothing huge, just refreshingly raw. The chase at the beginning was amazing, it had my heart racing.

This movie has matured, not so kiddy anymore, very mature. But don't worry there are jokes to be had, especially when he's on the chair and the baddie has a big slab of rope in his hand. It was horrifying torture (for males) but the zingers Bond was throwing back were hilarious.

The hype is right and the Daniel Craig bashing is nothing but cries of jealousy. SEE IT AT THE MOVIES!

I saw it the first day it came out. Easily the best one yet IMO with the exception of Goldeneye (the N64 Video Game made it all the better).

It's got everything you'd expect out of a bond movie. The past 2 have been awfull, this one makes up for it!!

Yeah I give it the thumbs up too - its actually good to see a Bond film that is a little more plausable - obviously it's always a little over the top but this one is quite close to, say the Borne Identity franchise.

Die Another Day was on the verge of being a cartoon - actually all the Pierce Brosnan bonds were out there - like Snakes On A Plane over the top.

Daniel Craig has re-invigorated a brand that was probably getting rather quite close to a signficant demise - and yes he can act, and all criticism of him before the movie came out is unjustified.

And what a Bond he's created too - pretty "bad ***" as someone has mentioned on another forum - probably over the Transporter's character - almost like Hitman 47 if any of you have experienced that computer game.

not sure if anyone else noticed but ford must have dropped some serious money into the movie to have alot of its brands featured.
Mostly in the Jamaican scenes, there was the mondeo first then in the car park all the cars were brands owned by ford. Most of them were from the PAG. (aston, Jag, Land Rover etc)

Agree...best Bond ever and film. Raw and gritty and so far away from the last couple, its good they have gone back to the roots fo it all. As far as the AM flipping, at least you know if you are in one that rolls about 14 times, you can still walk out of it!

Saw it last night at the drive ins, i thought it was the best Bond i seen in ages, didnt even seems like a long movie, completely different direction of previous bond flicks.
The way it ends suggest there is more to come from the new Mr Bond.

I saw the film in gold class with EFFalcon, DCStraight, offyaguts and SnyperEB.

The Ford Mondeo needed more screen time as should the two Aston Martins.

The movie was ok, I'm a missive Bond fan and was disapointed by a couple if things. But averall a great movie.

Don't you mean "dragged out of it semi-conscious by evil henchmen"? ;)

Bloody awesome movie. Not sure I'd say it was the best, but it sets the perfect scene for a new Bond.

ive probably seen every bond film 3 or 4 times at least, and id have to say i was pretty dissapointed with this one, had nothing on the connery bond films. saying that though it was an exciting movie, just not a good bond movie IMO.
