Default Today Tonight Idiots

Anyone just see today tonight I had to post up as some of their fuel saving suggestions where stupid. They had a guy doing 70km in a 80km zone recommending it to people to save fuel. Then they go on to say road rage peopl e use 23% more fuel !!!!!!! I wonder why !!!!!!!! They had another stupid one telling people to turn their car off when they are stopped in traffic yeah that will do the starter motor a great deal of good you might just save enough fuel to buy another one.

im surprised they didnt say that to save fuel to simply not drive your car.
there are some idiots out there.
so you do 70 in an 80 zone, you are saving fuel.
you do 70 in a 70 zone are you still saving fuel?

maybe they could also suggest ripping off half your plug leads and route some piping from the zorst back to the fuel tank to catch the unburnt fuel. to them, thatll be a fuel saver! burning HALF as much fuel each trip!!!

Doing 70 in an 80 zone would make you use more fuel.....at least in my car, I use less fuel the faster I cruise at, up to about 120-130 kph, then it drops off again.

Turn the car off at the lights? Do they realise how much fuel you use to kick over an engine?

Or if you ride a push bike, then you are saving fuel.
Also, if you break down and need to push your car of the road, by pushing it you save fuel.
By the sounds of it, I'm suprised they didn't mention the illegal practice of using "Angel Gear" - just bump it in to neutral down hills....

u save fuel, then they will tax us higher on something else,
the best way to save gas is to walk to the serving counter and put up overhead walkways so we dont sit in traffic while 3 people cross the road.

They are travelling at 90 because it does save fuel as opposed to 110 and doesn't affect travel times much over short freeway runs of 20 to 30kms

In every Falcon ive ever driven, ive found the best fuel economy to be between 80-120kms. Any lower than that and its ok, but you can see it using it. As for turning it off at the lights, not even going to dignify that with an answer!

Some people just get paranoid with their bills.

This kinda effects everyone else when there is one in each lane doing 90 in a 110km zone holding up about 20 cars. Even worse the highways where there is only one lane each way I often get them doing as low as 80 while 20+ cars are travelling behind them. Though i surpose all in the name of fuel!
It gets bad when its during peak hour as well and you only have 1 overtaking lane can take ages to get up and around 1 vehicle. I know 90km does save fuel but uses more fuel overall because of the road rage it creates.

An automatic Falcon generally wont lock up its torque converter until about 80 and even then it unlocks at the slightest provacation. In other words, over 80 is better than under. Around 90 - 100 is about the most efficient speed from my experience (in a Falcon/Commodore anyway).

I very rarely watch those shows anymore due to all the false info such as that.

Those participants in those suggestions should partake in the "3FB Economy Challenge", where they will have their ***** handed to them!

Maybe Ford need a XR Hybrid
Give it a few more years to get the technology more main stream and it will happen. They have a Ford Escape Hybrid in the states already.

It may save the slow pokes from using fuel, but the rest of us use more because we're constantly accelerating and braking to thread the way through all the moving road blocks that inhabit every lane on major roads - I know I use much less fuel driving at 105 on the freeway late at night with little traffic as opposed to driving between 90 and 105 moving between the traffic - in a 100 zone.
