Default help, bonnet jammed shut.

well i finally got my mk4 ghia back together and slammed the bonnet shut only to realise...****, i left the radiator cap off somewhere under the bonnet.

when i went to pull the cable release i think it either snapped or slipped out of its mount in the engine bay because theres no tension on it.

please, somebody has to have had this problem before and i really want to get this bastard out of my garage today and on the road, so any help on a manual release or something like that is much appreciated.

any space to get your hand up behind the radiator and then push the holding pin accross, otherwise rip the grille out (not preferred)

not entirely sure of the location of the latching mechanism, will have a go though.

right up the top, this is from memory

it has a big pin with a spring and the pin is spear shaped at the end, the actual locking bit is just a spring loaded slide that when the spear passes past it, the slide flicks back to hold it from popping up.

managed to get it open with someone pushing down on the bonnet while i pulled the cable, radiator cap was wedged under the cable and stretched it, so ill have to tighten the bastard up now.
