Question Australian Cricket Colours?

.

Just wondering why Australia were wearing Green in the Tri-nations?
They're in the traditional (my favorite) gold/yellow for the Chapel Hadlee series.

Why would they play in Green? South Africa is known as green.... :
Coming from Australia, which uniform do you prefer?

Cheers,
Carl

Yellow/Gold is the go, cant believe they played in that Dark Green (almost Black) colour over here............completely the wrong colour for the Aussie Summer, must have been sweltering out there in the middle.

Besides..........I thought the Blue Team were the best. :

I put the left nut on it being due to the fact that the Comm bank logo wouldn't have been as visible with the yellow jersey.

I prefer the yellow and green kit to the green with the gold number and name on the back. I'm sure the players probably prefer it in the heat as well, how the kiwi's survive wearing black is beyond me.

South Africa (or is it pakistan??) have been wearing a lighter green uniform lately.
I prefer the green personally it looks more sporty or something...

I prefered the dark green actually, the Chappel-Hadley yellow was blinding!

Hello.

That was Bangladesh's first one day international win against Australia.

I do not believe Bangladesh have ever beaten Australia in a test, simply because they do not have the endurance and consistency to last 5 days.

But beating Australia in a one-dayer was a great effort.

As for black, you can't beat it. The shirts we wear are super thin with micro holes in them. It wouldn't be much different at all to wearing green, yellow or black. Besides, in game time you want to be "in heat" sweating and being part of the game, not fresh and cool. It's our traditional colours, All Blacks have been in the colour for some 110+ years.

lol.

Im waiting for Ponting and co to get their game back on track, then i'll worry about what colour the uniform is. Thankfully we usually bounce back pretty strong after a shake up.... like losing to both the poms and the kiwis!

I have 'inside knowledge' here. People who know me will know why.

They (Cricket Australia/Adidas) chose to move away from yellow in ODIs on home soil for the reason that yellow (or gold) is not a commercially attractive colour (read: to sell merchandise). Whilst yellow has been used for years and is synonymous with Australian ODI cricket they believed that the baggy green colour would be a better colour to go with because of its links to cricket through the Test arena (Baggy Green caps), and naturally because green is a better colour to purchase than bright yellow (marketing had a lot to do with the decision).

Therefore they have decided to go with green for home ODIs (to sell merchandise easier and to link the Test and ODI colours) and yellow for away ODIs (because it is still considered the Australian colour by the worldwide cricketing community).

Obviously it is interesting that we have gone green, because not only do South Africa have a predominantly green ODI strip, but so do Pakistan, Bangladesh and Kenya (I think).

FWIW I first disliked the green ODI strip, but really like it now. I think the yellow alternate one for overseas ODIs looks horrid.

Your left nut isn't too safe. CA and adidas had already changed the colour in late 2005, well before Comm Bank signed on as a sponsor for the Australian cricket team (they have been a sponsor of the Cricket Centre of Excellence for quite a while, but only recently signed up as a full sponsor).
