Default Thug sets Bull Terrier on Guide Dog !

How low can some people get ?

Read the story below from the Herald Sun:

http://www.news.com.au/sundayheralds...8-2862,00.html

There's no place in our community for low life scum like this.....

Here's the story below to make it easier:

How low can this thug go?

Sue Hewitt

February 25, 2007 12:00am

A COWARDLY thug set his dog on a blind woman's guide dog, leaving the faithful companion's future uncertain.

Guide dog Keegan was taken to a veterinary hospital after the attack at Mooroolbark train station east of Melbourne. Keegan may have to be retired as a guide dog because of the attack's psychological effects. Owner Kristy Hyland, 20, who is about to start university, said a witness saw a youth set his dog on Keegan about 11pm on Thursday.
The witness told her the attack dog was muscular and was believed to be a bull terrier.

"There were two teenagers and one gave the command to 'get woofer'," she said.

"His dog came between Keegan and me and started attacking Keegan's back end.

"Keegan had puncture marks and there was a lot of pain and swelling.

"Dog fights are not sport and that's what they were trying to make it."

Miss Hyland, who has congenital blindness, said she had bonded with three-year-old Keegan over the past year and had expected to be with him for at least eight years.

Ian Finlayson of Guide Dogs Victoria said Keegan's fate was not decided, but "a guide dog must not be scared of other dogs and we have to see if he has been traumatised".

He said it cost $25,000 to breed and train a guide dog. It could take months to match another with Miss Hyland.

The Mooroolbark police are investigating.

That is just awful. The worst thing it dog attacks has repercussions onto responsible dog owners, and I must remind everyone here that its not the dog, it comes down to how it is raised/trained. There are plenty of other bull terriers/rotties/etc. in this world that don't attack. I say bring in IQ tests for dog ownership!
I guess I should be saying something about the owner of the dog, all that I can say is I hope he gets what is coming to him!

Yep agree. It may have been a good idea not to quote the breed as I have in the heading.

In the end it is the owner. People like this idiot shouldn't be walking the streets let alone be responsible for another life form.

Imagine if this scum bag has children !

Why on Earth would anyone do such a thing? How pathetic and cowardly. Those guys should be ashamed of themselves. And the dog will probably suffer and be put down because of it attacking the guide dog, but as Melz said, it is the owners fault.

Sometimes I wonder at how broad the definition of "human" has to be, to include people like them.

It is unfortunate that disabled people have to share the same goverment housing as oxygen theiving scum.

There was an article in the news a few months ago stating that a high proportion of dangerous dogs are owned by people with criminal records. In that case there must be a lot of ex-crims in my area and all their dogs want to eat mine.

A fine example of human values here. Not only do they think its fun to set a dog on another dog, they think its fun to do it to a guide dog that probably has more responsibilities and contributes more to society than the idiot owners ever will in their lifetime.

Shame, shame, shame! Make the owners of the attacking dog serve time helping the blind community. Maybe then they will appreciate what blind people have to put up with and realise the crime they committed is shameful.

Honest to god, if it was up to me these kinds of crimes would be solved by an investment in a gun and bullets, cheap justice. They don't contribute to society and only waste tax money in jail.

If the scumbag gets a slap on the wrist like many crims seem to get lately, I hope the Guide Dog Association makes a civil claim for the cost of training up a new guide dog and slug him $25k

That makes me sick to hear that , making dogs fight is bad enough , but setting a dog upon a blind persons dog ! , unforgivable ! - the people responsible should be shot.

I'll also add , the dogs are not to blame ! its these stupid owners who teach the dogs otherwise !.

This is just awful. I just really don't understand how anyone could think it's ok to do stuff like this.

I agree with that statement... plus he shouldn't get a guide dog after it, so he can see how the woman feels now that she is having to live without hers

Pop their eyeballs out and let a couple of wild pigs have their way with the scum.

I can't imagine how frightened the poor girl must feel. As if life isn't hard enough being blind, let alone needing to worry about heartless human-beings making life even harder.
