I have an au2 falcon and my cig lighter now will not click in when pushed in, it still works if i keep pressure on it and manually pull it out, but it wont click in or out by itself. Is there a bracket or clip missing inside the socket?
I want to buy a gps and run it out of lighter socket but i dont think it will work the way it is. I have pulled the socket out and was wondering if anything has fallen out like a clip etc. THanks |

Nothing missing you just have to adjust the tabs inwards inside the barrel of the lighter.
Oh and if your adjusting them with a metal screwdriver be careful to not short it out and blow the fuse. |

It's not the socket it's the lighter itself. The socket itself should still be ok to power your GPS though. Time to bin it and get a replacement. With constant use they eventually crap out at the coil. I can't explain the specifics of it suffice to say if you just find another lighter to stick in the socket you'll be up and running again. Having said that you can buy a whole lighter and socket cheap enough so you might as well replace the whole thing and be done with it.
