G'day all, been lurking around here for a little while now. I'm due for a new company car, budget around 35-38K. The new focus diesel is probably on top of my list right now, although a local dealer has a new LV xr5 going cheap(2010) but it lacks the refinements of the new focus, such as cruise etc. Can anyone let me know if a tow bar can be fitted to the LW? And anyone that has the optional luxury pack...sunroof, adaptave cruise etc...is it worth the coin. I do around 60K per year, and the company replaces the cars every 3.5 to 4 years...bit early to tell, but what do you think the lifespan of the diesel engine will be? My current drive is a 2008 Suzuki GV 1.9 diesel with 230K on the clock, and its still pretty tight. Another option for the new car is the new gas falcon...but thats a question in another thread!!!
Thanks, JayD |

Hayman Reese do a tow bar kit for the LW http://www.haymanreese.com.au/mmysea...p?Change=Model . I've had my Diesel sport for 6 weeks now, and done 4,500 kms. My previous car was a Mazda 6, but the Focus is far better in so many ways.

We are really happy with our Sport diesel. Ford don't make a tow bar for the LW but we are having the Hayman Reece one fitted in a week or so.

We have the Hayman Reese towbar fitted to our Titanium Hatch. It goes great with the pulling power of the diesel.

Get the lv xr5. I got mine August last year and it's bloody fantastic. Nothing comes close at the 32k budget. Well I got mine for 32k after a little haggling. U can get aftermarket cruise control.

Crow, one of our other reps has the xr5, and I have found one locally left, listed at 33k...it certainly is great fun!! I am yet to drive the new focus, so might have to get off my bum and go and do that.

So do you take the tongue off when you're not towing. I suppose we will have to if it sets of the sensors. We are getting it fitted this afternoon.

XR5 would be great fun. Top car..
Tow bar cant legally be fitted to the XR5. Plus they need 98 ron fuel. The way fuel prices are going I would be going the diesel The diesel motor will also last alot longer the petrol or gas. |

My Haymen Reese tow bar doesn't set off the rear parking sensors. They do go off when I've got the trailer on, but only in reverse gear- not a problem. Unfortunately they don't seem to make a tow bar for the LW Focus with the removable tongue, but at least the tow ball doesn't stick out too far - so far I haven't caught my shins on it!

The Hayman Reece Tow Bar we had fitted today to our LW Focus doesn't interfere with our parking sensors but even if it did it's easily removed. Just undo 2 bolts. We are going to leave it on for "protection".
