Hi M8
as injected 250 said the compression bowl is in the piston on Xflows fitting flat tops will smash the valves to bits with std cam never mind a Big cam.JP engineering in south aus (0882617222) do a piston @ 83.5mm (part no Q202087) which will give 10.5cr & 1700cc the valve cutouts are something like 50thou deeper & wider, for Big cams and overlaps, this is used with std head gasket.I have used this piston for quite some time now with no worries about water jacket leaks etc. |

put 1300 pistons in it they are the same diameter just have a smaller bowl and therefore raise the compression to approx 10:1

As 356mal suggests the common mod is to put in 1300 pistons but economically you are better off just putting in a 2lt from a later model escort or cortina. There are a few local x-flow specialists who are capable of wringing every last horse out of the old kent lump but my $600 pinto would wipe the floor with most of them. If you are determined to keep it "looking" original but want a "bit" of extra performance give Twin Cam Services a call (03) 9786 4711 in Seaford.
