I have been with Shannons for over 6 years, about a fortnight ago I went to a car show but it wasnt until I got the car out again on Sunday that I found someone had scraped along the passenger side door and quarter pannel. Rang Shannons on Monday and explained what happened and started a claim, took the car to my prefered repairer and got a quote on Tuesday, received an email today informing the claim had been accepted and my repairer has been authorised to do the repair. I am not recommending Shannons but they were great to deal with.

Yep, theyre good to deal with for sure. I havent ever had to make a claim apart from a window replacement. But we have Hom, contents, 3 cars and 2 motorbikes with them. Great to allways deal with someone in the know (enthusiast) and down to earth over the phone to.

Most insurance companies are pretty easy and straight forward with small claims like that. But it’s good to see it was nice and easy.
The problem with Shannon’s is that it is owned by Suncorp and when talking with a rep, you not always talking with an Enthusiast as you once would have and some of the behind the scenes stuff has changed. But then again Lumley is really good, but recently IAG has taken over ownership so we will see how that goes. |

Shannons is fantastic. I've made claims for my wife's WRX and our home, all were processed with no issues whatsoever. Been with them for about 10 years.
However for my XR50 they want over $900 and RACQ is only just over $500, so I went with RACQ.

I use NRMA for our 2 cars and home. Nice discounts.
Only one claim with them so far when I hit a roo. Straight forward, told me my premiums wouldn't go up. They did by almost double next renew. Rang them up to complain. They put them down again. Gave them another year, following year they went down again. So going to stay with them. Most of the bigger insurance companies are pretty good to deal with. I hear it's the cheap ones that Coles resells that you have to watch. |

With car insurance I can't fault Shannons, but with house insurance I can't say they are the best.
Trying to cut a long story short, I had a simple claim which was getting bounced around for about 6 months in the Shannons claims dept, it was getting hand balled to a different person each time. They finally called me in the end to admit that they shouldn't have insured me from the start as they don't have any of their repairers in my area (regional town in SA), they appoligied and urged me to find another insurance company. I was pretty angry that they took me on to start with without disclosing that they couldn't help me in the event that I needed them. So if you decide to get a quote for house insurance with Shannons, be sure to ask them if they have a repairer in your area.

I am currently insured with Australia Post underwritten by Auto & General Insurance for my 08 Fg XR8 and i just renewed a few months ago for 12 months full cover at $913.00.
I called Shannons for a quote last week and they wanted $1586. It has no mods, not under any finance and i am rating 1 and over 40. Why the huge premium? |

My wife's WRX costs us around $950 but as it's modified it's not easy getting insurance elsewhere. My old WRX also cost me around $900 to insure but it had a lot of mods on it.

Did online quotes through 4 different companies before going with Allianz
as they were lowest on my BF XR6. Suncorp was highest. Have rating 1 and am 58yo so maybe this helped. |

People look for two things with insurance, cheap premium and fast claims.
It's rare to get both, I prefer a fast claim than a cheaper settlement so it's good to hear your positive claims feedback.

I had a grey import (Nissan 350GT) insured with Shannons. It was written off early this year when a dozy tradie in a ute didn't see everyone in front of him braking, and slammed into my ****. Shannons were great - the quote to repair was almost the same as the sum insured so they wrote it off. I had the option to buy the wreck at a fair price. They paid out the agreed value within a couple of weeks of the accident, with no hassles.

I'm happy with Shannons. They may be a little dearer on my daily, but with the multi-policy discounts, it still pays to keep it there.
Personally I've only had to claim a windscreen from them - from a clown in a 3T tipper who decided to make a new lane up the side of a busy road - and flicked rocks up everywhere. Shannons just about wanted to know what colour undies all the passengers were wearing before they approved it, but the repairer was great (and told me he had to maintain his standards or Shannons would cut him off). In-laws have had several no-fault claims over the last 6 years - no hassles at all. Choice of repairer - and for a vintage car we found it doesn't have to be a proper business - as long as the repairer has an ABN and meets the assessor's standards, they approve it - mind you the guy who did the repair has restored 19-teens cars from scratch, to concourse level, hand making a lot of parts, so he does a much better job than the 'panel replacers' who work on modern cars and don't understand the old ones. |

I'm with Just Car. When someone reversed into my WRX I called up and just answered a few basic questions. The claim was approved the next day.
I dropped it off and picked it up exactly when they promised. It obviously cost more than was quoted but no delays there at all. Just as well as I have spent thousands on insurance premiums and would not have been happy with anything else ![]() |

I would suggest anyone with a Just Cars policy check this, as I did not get any warning or letter, it was just on my Renewal. I found out about this as I have a few friends that work for Suncorp and told me what they planned on doing. SO when they sent my Renewal is was placed on. |

A number of years ago I ploughed into the back of a Nissan Xtrail with my Nissan Patrol at a stop light, this was the day before a planned 4WD trip through central Australia, as my spotties were trashed I was up the creek without a paddle so to speak. I rang Allianz to process the claim as the other car was trashed and about 4 hours later a bloke from an accessory joint in town dropped off a brand new set of IPF spotties to my front door. Last week I rang them to complain about how my insurance on my XR6 (which I hardly drive anymore) has gone up over the years and the market value of any payout had gone down and the nice girl dropped the monthly premium by $13. A big thumbs up from me!
