having trouble wiring a trailer 5 pin plug to my au. Would like to know which color of the wires on the car. Have used different guides but I have failed I have been told it has not been earth correctly so what colour is the active earth wire on my AU wagon.

You can always use an earth wire to the body. Working from memory isn't there a plug on the drivers side of the boot adjacent the tail light for plugging a trailer socket loom? If there is test from the body to each of the wires with the brake on then an indicator etc. until you know which wire does what. You can use a voltmeter or just a 12V globe. if there is only one left over and there is no voltage on it is likely to the the earth.
