So the brake lights on my ute have stopped working.
Cruise Control still de-activates when I touch the brake though... so this leads me to believe its not the switch - what do you guys think? Any ideas? What to look at first? |

its only ever one of three things
brake light switch fuse bulbs the second two take 5 mins to work out if its not them, then it's your switch simple as that

Cruise control is on the horn fuse circuit not brake amigo.
I remember when I did my horn pad and took the fuse out no cruise control until I replaced the horn pad and put the fuse back. |

Ok so it's not the switch, jumpered the plug and brake lights didnt light up.
It doesnt appear to be the globes either, I bought the wrong type, but when I looked at the ones currently in the car not noticeably blown or anything. The fuse also seems to be ok.. :\ I don't know where to look next!! |

Eh. Bit the bullet, $12 for a new switch from Repco - has resolved the issue.
Thanks guys for everything. Mr Hardware, I should have just listened :P |

actuator by far
because you can change a brake light switch in 5 mins for $20, you certainly can't do that with an actuator.

Hi all another brake light question my brake lights only work when a lot of pressure is applied to the pedal, so when i brake normally they dont come on. If the switch is the problem are they adjustable as to required force to activate?
thanks. |

EF4.0, the switches are so cheap, just replace it.

Well i replaced the switch and problem solved. I chose the after market switch which cost me $20 or $49.50 if i wanted genuine. I really appreciate the tips and knowledge gained from this site.
Thanks EF4.0. |

Hey everyone,
just wondering where the switch is located? I can't find it in my Max Ellery manual? Also wondering what fuse is the brake light fuse? Sorry for the stupid questions |
