Verdict
Choosing between the Astra and Cruze is relatively easy because not only does the Opel have better road manners and driveability, a higher-quality interior and give away nothing in terms interior space, it is cheaper than the Cruze SRi. Even the Opel, however, is relegated to third place by its uninspiring interior design and average handling. That leaves the Focus and the Golf, with the VW impressing with its solid build, its blend of performance and economy, impeccable road manners and practical nature. It does lack equipment, however, and is smaller inside than its rivals. What some buyers might call simplicity others would call homeliness. That leaves the Focus as the winner, not least because of its fine blend of ride and handling, more-than-acceptable performance, interior space and style and those excellent seats. At more than $30,000 in Sport trim you pay a little more but the experience is worth it. http://news.drive.com.au/drive/new-c...914-25vph.html

Some good deal on at the moment for the Focus Mk2 range making it even better than the rivals.
In Perth $25990 drive-away for a Mk2 Sport manual or $27990 drive-away for a Mk2 Sport auto. |

Don't know about here but in the UK Vdubs hold their value a lot better than Other brands

If the Holden Astras turning up in my workshop are anything to go by I wouldn't buy any Astra given that we have them turn up for alternators every week.
