Hi fellas. This might sound like flogging a dead horse, but I need some help. I have a 66 mustang with an 2000 xr8 au I think. To fit it they had to use the mustang sump. Here is the issue front mounted sump but the dip stick is in the rear right on the xr8 I have only just bought the car so there is know way to check the oil can any one tell me away to fix it.

You got some trouble there mister! Who did the conversion? Did'nt they realise the difference in location will effect the dipstick?

I would have a look at the engine block and and see if there is any provision for a dipstick elsewhere , Windsors have been around for a long time, there should be some way around doing a major operation to put a tube in.

Sounds like you're looking at the Auto dipstick.

no it has one of those on the left side it has the original dip stick still in the back side of the block I think I will just take the sump off and just weld a new one in that .

Oil dipstick is yellow on Windsors, and an AU transmission wouldnt have one anyway.

I thought you meant the colour of the car not the dip stick not a lot of room around the motor because it is super charged as well

Hey there Bald1. I did some research on this ages ago, its actually posted in one of the USA mustang forums. You have to mod the 5lt to get the dipstick correct. There is actually a "how to" and shows how to add a front mounted dip stick in the 5lt
