Two-stroke ute

I have been looking for Ford advertising in 1930's newspapers. I noticed that lots of manufacturers had utilities as part of their range: Ford, Chevrolet, Dodge, International, Morris, Terraplane (Hudson), Bedford, Willys. I was surprised to see that there was also a DKW ute (two-stroke) in 1938. The link should show one or two survivors. (The link tells quite a bit about DKW's in Australia.)

It has more HP than that. The 4 HP (SAE) is an obsolete rating purely based on bore size & number of cylinders. For example using that method, the old FX Grey motor had 60 HP (Gross) but 21 SAE/RAC HP.

Using the modern equivalent, that bad boy Zeta would have around 11 to 12 HP net.

If we measured it on one of those American dynos you see all over youtube it would probably have 500hp

I used to do gardening for the Malaysian couple that owned Zeta,. They were a strangle little truck? but the concrete mixer I bought is still going...

SAAB had a two-stroke vehicle that was quite angry little one,

Photo shows a 3-cylinder SAAB, the sports version with tripple carburettor !
They made a model 750GT with optional sports package, 55HP out of 750cc,

They tried to rally with this, too little power, so they came up with slapping two of these together on each side of an angle gear,

According to the article they had a whopping 138HP and in total 1.5ltr, 'inline-6' engine in this little SAAB, 'The MONSTER'.

I would have loved to hear an audio file of that thing coming around a rally track
