Hi there!
I'm new here. Looks like a good site for Ford talk... Hopefully by next week I will be the proud owner of a 2003 Zetec, 3 door, manual, black, with ST170 rims, body kit, and real dark tint... I'm so excited, can't wait now. Seller is my brother-in-law, and I know he's been looking after it, so I don't have any concerns. Still gotta sort out insurance. The only thing that's still unclear there is how the insurer will go about insuring the ST170 rims. I mean, if they get nicked, will they replace them with the cheapest 17" rims available? When I got insurance quotes, they never ask you about what type of alloy wheels you have, just IF you have them. Would it help to specify on the purchase contract that the car has ST170 rims on it? Interested what your opinion is on that. |

it would be better to have the rims you have quoted on your insurance policy that way if they get nicked there is no conjecture on what rims should be provided, however I couldnt advise you on if your insurer might ask you to pay an extra premium for that

nice choice of car!
in regards to the rims, the biggest trouble you'll find will be the size of them. NRMA wouldn't insure me with the optional 17's which are the same size as ST170 rims. GIO did and they have them listed on my policy. typically the way it works is that they will value your rims as a dollar figure, and if they get stolen, thats how much you get to replace them. make sure to take some pics of the car when you get it.

He might not have as many issues since the Zetec had a factory option for 17's unlike the CL and LX. Welcome along though! What state are you from?

Thats true Matt, but what NRMA told me was that the only Focus they would cover with the 17's was the ST170 - they wouldnt take a Zetec.

Thanks for your input!
Guess I'm gonna make another call to the insurance company (looking at AAMI at the moment) and specifically quiz them about the issue. The rims were factory fitted, that might help it. I'm from Melbourne. |

Tiramaus, just to let you know, your ST170 rims wouldn't have been factory fitted, they're only factory fitted on the ST170 and not available AT ALL on any other model in the range, unless you buy them as Spare Parts and fit them. Whilst they can be fitted before delivery by the Dealer, they are not a Ford factory option. Just so you don't make the mistake.

Hi again,
I got the car (absolutely rapped with it!) and sorted out the insurance issue. I managed to obtain the part number for the rims and AAMI were happy to note it in the policy at no extra charge. Very pleased with the result. |

Tiramausu - nice car, the rims and car look fantastic. Clear side indicators would go down really well on the car! There is a How To on eurofordclub.com if you're unsure of whats involved: http://www.eurofordclub.com/clearsideindicators.html Have fun with the car and welcome to the forums! Tim |

Timmeh, yes I might put the clear side indicators on at some stage. Do you know where to get them from at a good price? I saw them on a webside somewhere for about $40 a set, which I thought was a bit expensive for a bit of plastic...

The bulbs will cost you between 3 to 10 dollars each depending where you buy them from. You will need to replace the standard clear bulbs in the current units with orange ones. You can buy them from Ford or any automotive shop like Autobahn. Tim |

welcome nice ride. I know i am a bit late but just cars would have been worth a look. i was going to go with them as they cut every other company by at least 200 dollars. but i could not pay up front so had to go to the next cheapest RACV. well will hope to see you on the next cruz when zetec organises one. lol only joking mat.
