Default I'm 1 of the first people in the world to watch the new Fast&Furious movie *SPOILERS*

Well to start off, its better than I expected.
There was an advanced screening of the movie on tonight at my local cinema where only people who won tickets from a competition that the local radio station were playing were allowed to see this movie.

We get the movie before America, Japan, Europe, pretty much everywhere else and I was at the advanced screening woohoo. :sm_headba
Okay enough dribbling.

This movie, whilst still following the Fast and Furious agenda and making motorsport into childish law breaking havoc was surprisingly entertaining.

One of the highlights, at the start, I wont say too much but there is a drag/track race between a Dodge Viper SRT/10 and some old Mustang thats been worked (I think its a Ford) along some dirt road in a construction yard.

Theres quite a few races in the movie, plenty of drifting scenes and some hotted up imports and LOTS of crashes.
Probably not everybody's thing here but its alright for a car movie.
Storyline was typical but not subpar enough to distract you.

At the end of the movie Vin Diesel makes an appearance which I thought was actually pretty cool. I wont say what happens but it links the story from Fast and the Furious 1 to this 3rd installment.

Worst part of the movie (aside the bad acting) was the fact they stuck a skyline motor into a Mustang!!
Although I suppose I can give some credit for originality.
Most interesting engine sway ever quite possibly.

Anyway thats all I'll say for now.
Anybody want to ask questions, fire them away! :1syellow1

In MY opinion, its an alright car movie.
I thought the first and second movies were 'alright' also.

So if you had no interest in the first or second movie, you might not find this one good either.

However, as a car fan I think it did okay.
Had quite a few nice and quick cars in the movie, a few American muscle car scenes also.

To be critical though, the acting isnt that great, the storyline is predictable and this movie will only encourage youngsters to go out and try the stunts also which will only cause accidents.

I'm going to see it sunday with some mates.

The F&F movies are alright entertainment.. who gives a flying whatever if the plot isn't perfect or the acting isn't oscar-worthy or the cars aren't ultra realistic.. i'm sick of people whinging about things not being realistic etc in movies.. we watch movies to ESCAPE reality.. bring back dragons and aliens and monsters and talking cars and crap like that :P

I didn't really like the other ones, but this one was okay.. acting and storyline wasn't award winning but it was a little better than the previous films.

Saw it earlier tonight. The start of the movie made me laugh the acting was so poor, but i blame that mainly on the fact the new main character has a hilarious accent, and the dumb kid (now looks older, but still dumb) from HOME IMPROVEMENT was in it, challenging the new dude to a race. After the agony of their 'acting' with insessent crowd 'ohhhhhhhhh' and 'oooooooohhhh's carrying on in the background, the first race happens, which had an ending i didn't expect which was good. From there i thought the acting improved, and while in Tokyo the storyline improved and flowed nicely.

To sum it up i found the movie a LOT better than number 2 (which was crappola) and very entertaining in it's own right. I thought they did well in making a movie that was completely seperate from the first one, that was until Domenic Toretto shows up in the final scene (which was highly unexpected but cool all the same). If there weren't 500 kiddies in the cinema throwing popcorn and talking on their mobiles (start of vic school holidays today apparently) it would have been even more entertaining.

Worth the money, you might be surprised.

3.5 out of possible 5 fantz points. :dj:

hey in number two that hemi and camaro? wouldve flogged the outta them poofy ricemobiles, but they had to trick there way through, playing chicken (that muscle car wouldve ploughed through that plastic lancer lol.)

and in the first one that charger was going sweet against the supra (which used like 3 shots of nos and 30 gear shifts) and something even blew up in it (will have to watch again to see what it was). and that wheelie was like the appitomy of muscle. (excuse my spelling)

Fast and Furious 1 = 9/10
Fast and Furious 2 = 6/10
Fast and Furious 3 = 8/10

Watched it last night was pretty happy with it, the opening race was kinda cool Viper Vs some V8 (sounded PHAT). Didnt really rate the Cereal Box Toys, Except for the Veilside RX-7 which made me CREME in my pants.

Oh and the " if you better than 180 the cops dont even bother chasing you" law is kinda cool i think.

I loved it and thought the RB26DETT GT-R engine was phat as all hell in the Mustang. Original and cool. To be honest, had they dropped in a V8, I wouldn't have been able to believe that it could have raced the ricers.

Best of all three that I've seen to be honest, glad they got rid of the cheap, offensive "can always grab another gear and step on the gas harder" tactics of the first 3 movies. I loved it, saw it at the drive-ins with the Vic Drift Club at the advanced screening last Wednesday night, awesome stuff.

As for acting... who gives a toss really? I mean seriously. The target audience isn't really given much credit (teens and car lovers) so would you expect them to hire Tom Hanks, Nicole Kidman and Halle Berry for the acting? That would only detract from the cars IMO. Sure it was tacky... but it kinda matched the bling factor. You hardly want some self-conscious intelligent protagonist who cares for injured pigeons ruining the petrol fest!!

I give it an 8/10.

LOL. Few V8's on the planet this side of a very exotic Italian worked V8 would have anywhere near the ability of an RB26DETT Twin-Turbo Straight Six Skyline GT-R engine. In ANYTHING. Weight, Power, Torque... This is the engine known to have been taken above the 1000hp mark. If I could have one engine on the planet, that would be it!

Taken from wikipedia (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Nissan_RB_engine#RB26DETT)
RB26DETT

The first 2.6L RB26DETT featured twin turbochargers and produced 280PS (206kW) @ 6800 rpm and 260ft/lb (353Nm) @ 4400 rpm. The last series of the RB26DETT produced 280PS (206kW) @ 6800 rpm and 289ft/lb (392Nm) @ 4400 rpm. However, several stock and unmodified engines have been dyno tested and reported to obtain nearer the 320hp mark. It is widely renowned for its strength and extreme power potential, as some examples have been known to produce over 1000hp (735kW) with relatively minor modifications. It is not uncommon for 600hp to be archieved without any alterations being made to the internal engine components, and the engine block can supposedly hold horsepower values approaching 1360hp (1000kw).

With regular maintenance, many of these engines can also be driven way past the 100,000 mile mark, with a few examples heading toward 200,000 miles, due mainly to precise and meticulous upkeep.

It was used in the following cars:

* Nissan Skyline GT-R R32
* Nissan Skyline GT-R R33
* Nissan Skyline GT-R R34
* Nissan Stagea 260RS
* Tommy Kaira ZZII

[edit]

RB26DETT Z2

This is the engine used in the Nissan Skyline Z-Tune. It is basically the RB26 block, modified with Nismo parts, and stroked to 2.8L. The end result was the RB26 Z2, which puts out 507 hp and 550 Nm of torque. They originally aimed for 630hp, but the engine had to be de-tuned after problems were encountered with high emission values.

In the context of the movie, the cars are drifting and racing tight, twisty corners, a V8 would be too nose heavy. That's the basis for my comment above on their choice of engine. Plus it would simply be way over the top to come out with a 40 year old Mustang with a V8 and try and believe that it could seriously have a chance against any worked turbo Jap machine such as the 350Z in the movie. Old school vs Modern is cool, but in the movie, no matter how much you hate Ricers/Imports/Jap Crap or whatever you want to call it, they're just too cool and in real life, too quick to argue with.
