Welcome to the forums mate, I've got a series 3 xr8 ute and have had no problems with it yet (touch wood) and it's done 70,000 kms.

Seriously, A mate of mine had a Porsche and a falcon ute. Sold both cars about 4 months ago when he got married, and he misses the ute! Doesn't miss the Prosche. :weird: They are a tough, dependable, and reliable car, both in I6 and V8, auto or manual (go auto for better towing ability).

With mine .. AUII XL 1-tonne V8
1. Both top balljoints replaced at 40,000km 2. Problem with auto slipping out of gear when cold .. fixed 45,000km 3. Both rear leaf spring assemblys replaced at 45,000km (manufacturing error) 4. Steering rack replaced at 95,000km 5. Both window winders replaced at 95,000km Current problems @ 125,000km (not fixed) 6. Auto/drivetrain/diff lash problem? 7. Engine developing serious knock? Mostly just standard car "stuff" .. nothing ute specific except for the rear leaves. My only problem with it in my 4+ years ownership is this last engine noise .. serious and costly. :( Rod. |

which model ... 6 or 8????
Some people will have problems ... other won't. I have replaced a lot of things on my ute ... but it does a lot of kays as well. So i just class it under maintenance .... or upgrades As long as you keep it well maintained and "regularly" serviced ... you shouldn't have a drama really. I also have a 2001 AUII (XLS EGAS auto) ... and it has been a great work vehicle ... and also play toy as well. Welcome to the forums as well.
