Well its stuffed now
I might as well move out of victoria
the " Bracks " Gov now have a new law that if you get court doing a " burnout " or " Hooning " then first time your car is taken off you for 48hrs next time your car could be taken and sold ..

so picture this
old granmar in her EL and me in my EL Both sitting at the lights ..
lights turn green. .
I take off first and faster then her.. there is a cop on the side road watching..
So what happens then.. ??
He can pull me over for " Hooning " and take my car ?

Where i live it was a trial and the cops were happy with it as it got a few ppl and there cars off the road but it could not be inforced . well now it can .. It has been a longggg time since the cops have even looked at my cars (even with my black windows ) But this new law could be bad for a fair few of us if the police use this new law in the wrong meaning .

What do you Guys/Girls Think ??

It should be limited to organized street racing and long burnouts in built up areas (not your wheels chirping from the white line at the lights).

yeah i sure hope the cops are reasonable about it; limit it to stuff that's actually dangerous.

They do this already in canberra, for burnouts at least, 1st time is a fine, 2nd is your car is impounded, you're fined and you have to pay to get it out of impound, 3rd time your car is taken and sold and another fine of course. At least thats my understanding of it.

It'd have to be a real **** of a cop that'd book you for simply taking off faster than another driver (assuming there's no other "theatrics" involved).

However, if you make a habit of being an absolute ******** on public roads then you deserve to lose your car.

As far as I know it will be for REPEAT offenders. And its pretty serious stuff a tosser in his silvia, thinking his some drift expert and hitting some people. Fair enough they shouldn't be there in the first place, but if your going to do burnouts then atleast know how to do it properly :/

Some people do not deserve to have a licence, I dont agree with the laws but something nees to be done.

A new complex on some shitty land somewhere would be a start, but that will never happen.

It chirps if I dont drive hard, its just the way it is. The trans overheats if the shift kit is off after only 10 minutes normal driving. I have never copped a speeding ticket or anything similar so Im not a hoon.

The fact still remains that you don't need 4500000kw for sensible street driving meaning it's still your problem, not theirs.

So people who enjoy legal racing now have to be able to afford a dedicated drag car. Thats just silly. I have to drive my car everyday.

I agree they govt doesnt care and it is us that have to deal with the consequences. I didnt think street racing was a big of a problem in this state to warrant even more drastic ways of revenue raising.

Chances are this will never effect me personally but It annoys me that at a policeman's discretion our car can be consfiscated for an indefinate amount of time.
I can see one police officer in particular around the knox area that would abuse this power to high heaven.

i think the rules for hooning are all back to front..

accelerating up to the speed limit
or racing to the speed limit you face car confiscation thats BS
breaking traction and creating smoke is 2 different things but just chirping your tyres you face 48 hours without a ride,its BS really..

accelerating to the speed limit is more of a "undue care n attention offence" more then a hooning type of offence

same with racing "to" the speed limit (imho anyways)

and for just chirping your tyres without creating smoke is just BS i got done cause my car skipped over a few bumps whilst heading into 2nd gear and they treated like it was a murder or something 2 cars and the top hoon squad guy rocks up with his pushbike (scooter aka motorcycle) and wanted my ride right or wrong.commonsense prevailed i kept it but was escorted outta town for 30klms by the moto cop and told to stay out..

some laws are just F'D really..

Sounds like their out to get you with these anti-hooning laws 'HOON69'.

I imagine most officers will be reaonsonable and limit confiscation to people who frequent dangerous on-street burnout events - 7.30 report style - datto 1800's pulling heli's surrounded by hundreds of spectators.

lol nah didnt help having a username plate with hoon69 laying on my front dash mat either didnt they have a field day with that one LOL

since that incident i havent been booked or fined for a similar offence so its all good

e and the top hoon squad in qld hate the car scene up here so its 2nd nature to be pulled over if your in the vacinity of a large group of cars,that night i was at surfers paradise 3minutes from bwcp where 600+cars gather so the cops were out in force anyways..
funny thing was i was video taping this cop car booking ppl and in the end it was the same car booking ,me...

There is a time and a place for everything, and on the street, doing burnouts infront of big crowds is just stupid; they deserve everything they get and more.

I have no problem with a copper(s) who have picked up some "hoon" on consectutive occasions and they take his car and licence; some people have to learn the hard way. This is an attempt to make sure a pole doesn't tell them when to stop :/

I enjoy "spinning them up" as much as the next person, but there is a time and a place and its not near a crowd or on a main street/industrial centre.

I think people are more worried that cops will overact. Can you honestly say you've never driven at all spiritedly (spelling. i know) on the road? Wether dangerous or not, i'm sure you'd feel pretty ripped if you got your car confiscated for it, and fined, and fined again...

didn't know pulling off the line quickly made you a fully sick dude, or a ********, either...settle down i'd say...

this isnt the sort of 'hooning' they would be targeting. hooning is to be considered doing burnouts, driving dangerously and the sort.

No I can't but if I got picked up then it'd be my own stupid fault and I'd only have myself to blame. I wouldn't go running around saying cops are revenue raising ****s when it was I that was at fault. If it kept happening then that would depend on whether I had actually learned from the first time. If I had, and was being unfairly targeted, then that would be a whole different story to if I'd simply kept flouting the law (and if I had, then I'd deserve to have my car confiscated). However, the easiest way to avoid being targeted, unfairly or otherwise, is simply not to make yourself a target.

I was referring more to those people who put pedal to metal as soon as the lights change only to have to put the brakes on just as quickly at the next set of lights.

ok time here 7;40 i just come back from up the street to have a look and see what if any the " Hoons " are doing and nothing has changed they are still flying around the roundabouts and up cannon hill i love to **** them off i go 1st gear up there (20-30) and hold them up i dont care much with this new law as im not a P plater but my missers is
So what happends if they see the P plates and pick on her? do they still get MY car ?

Lol M8 my windows are 5% limo black all round and i have 2 layers on the back windows unless i have the window down or door open you wont see any more then my hand on the steering wheel ..
