I am currently (today) looking to purchase some bilstein short body long travel shocks for my te50. Std shock length on your irs au is approx 430mm(measured from the bottom of the shock to the top of the body). The bilstein shocks are 392mm, thats again in travel of approx 40mm at the shock more at the wheel.
They also have an adjustable spring seat, so you can lower the car without the need to change springs and go up in spring rates. They can also be adjusted for rebound and bump by revalving them. These shocks will suit any irs xr or t-series. The retail price for these shocks atm is $1590, if i get two more people purchasing they will get the full set for $1100. If you are seriously thinking about the purchase i need to know asap as i am ordering them today. Your also saving me alot of coin as well. :0 thanks, Matt

You can forget the time restraints as i doubt i will be getting them overnight now. So if you’re interested just let me know in the next few days or next week and we will go from there.
This is a great saving on a excellent shock that can give your car awesome handling with a lowered stance with the added benefit of the car not sitting on or close to your bump stops. If we are to get more than the three sets of shocks I am pretty sure the price would come down even further.

Yeah I'm interested Matt, just the funds ATM :(
A few things I need to spend the clam on before I get new shocks unfortunately. Good luck though, hope you get some more poeple on board- sounds like a pretty good deal

Is there potential for a "mixed bag" group purchase? (shortened travel for some people, standard travel to suit xr for other people)

Looking at a set for the wagon now, so definetly interested. Though I will need a different shock to you Noddy. If wagon shocks dont fall under the catagory you are looking at dont worry.

As an example on my ts50 which has the factory koni's in it if you reach around the back of the spring and place your index finger on the shock's shaft(between top of shock body and bumpstop) that’s all the free travel the koni has. The thickness of your finger, a touch over 10mm travel before the shock bottoms out on the bump stop. The bump stop does compress a little, it's not solid but its still bugger all travel. That’s why most motorsport shocks are short body type, it allows adjustability.

Definitely needed on lowered vehicles ... as a shock that is compressed too much after lowering with little travel will shorten the life of the shock due to excessive force on it. Premature leaking will occur.
It is better to have a shorter body shock mainly for this reason ... I had to get them for my previous car as it was decked (the standard shocks didn't last long either).

If I had read your first post properly I would have seen the reference to "xr" models. I may be interested subject to final price/delivery etc (and what I can learn about Bilsteins in the meantime, lol). |
